About Laurie McKenna Mega
In 2000, Laurie McKenna Mega graduated from Emerson College with a B.S. in Journalism and Public Information. For the next 12 years, she worked as an editor and occasional writer at several educational publishing companies, including Houghton Mifflin Harcourt and Pearson Education.
In 2006, she received her M.A. in Publishing and Writing from Emerson College. She also published a remedial children's book called Down the River with Heinemann.
She did a brief stint as a reference book editor before breaking into content marketing in 2012.
As an editor for Skyword, Inc. Laurie helped build the editorial and freelance writing team while shaping her own clients' content to meet their marketing needs.
In 2014, Laurie left the world of cubicles and commutes to become a freelance writer and editor. She has written for FamilyEducation, Care.com, The Economist and Hearst Magazines.
Laurie is currently the content director for FEN Learning, a portfolio of four sites that focus on teachers, parents and kids. They are FamilyEducation, Fact Monster, TeacherVision and Infoplease.
She is also the mother of two toddler boys.
Despite her busy schedule, she still likes to write when she gets the opportunity.
